Saturday 27th February - bike ***** - Felixstowe to Levington Church for lunch – sunny.

The lovely sunny weather continues here on the East coast with wall to wall sunshine but a tad chilly but still did my exercises in the garden again! So, after yesterday’s top walk Mag and I decided to take the bikes out today leaving home at 11.45 we headed for another one of our favourites Levington Church. Shorts again but to be honest you could have done with your woolly hat and gloves especially on the bikes! We take the cycle path along the busy A 14 and it is sad to see all the rubbish that has been thrown out of the vehicles, people just don’t care, they take no responsibility for their actions, do they live in a mess at home too? It was then down through Levington village to the church which offers stunning views down to the River Orwell. We are greeted by a nice old boy cutting the grass so we have that smell as well as the nice Smokey smell of a nearby bonfire:) The chicken sandwich with lashings of thick salty butter, lettuce and mayonnaise is as delicious as ever and we spend ages in the warm on a seat by the church door watching the world go by including lots of cyclist’s and walkers returning from the creek. I then go and take some daffodils’ spotting the huge herd of deer in the big tree field down below so we walk over to a seat a little closer for our afters and Mag counts over 60 deer! A bird of prey lands in the tree near them and we hear three buzzards circling above us. There were even some yachts making slow progress on the Orwell below in the light airs! Well rested we continue on to the Marina and all the parking spots are very busy. We go down to the windsurf area just to check it out, to tell you the truth I can’t see why we are not allowed to sail there at the moment because there were many many boat owners working on their yachts and few windsurfers tucked out the why would certainly make very little impact! Then back around Loompit lake with a few coots and tufted ducks taking the hilly track back towards Trimley. We did a little of the tree lined track before crossing the large foot bridge and over to Candlet Lane and home. So another lovely bike ride covering nearly 15 miles being out for 3 hours!
